About the role

This Senior Lecturer in General Practice role provides academic support to the Discipline Head, General Practice, at the National School of Medicine, Fremantle Campus, and contributes to curriculum development, assessment, and teaching within the General Practice discipline in the Fremantle MD program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver highquality, researchinformed teaching for both rural and metropolitan placements within the General Practice discipline in the school.
  • Work with the Discipline Head of General Practice to develop, revise, deliver, and assess the General Practice curriculum in the Fremantle MD program, and collaborate with stakeholders such as the Rural Clinical School to review placement quality.
  • Support the Discipline Head of General Practice in supervising the general practice academic registrar as part of the RACGP Academic Registrar Program.
  • Maintain and build relationships with general practitioners and General Practices that take students on placements.
  • Assist with maintaining, managing, and recruiting clinical teachers and General Practice placements, including examiners for OSCEs.

Qualifications, skills & experience

  • A doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing, with consideration given to teaching experience, research experience, professional or technical achievement, experience outside tertiary education along with a demonstrated record of scholarly and professional achievement in the discipline.
  • A medical qualification registrable with AHPRA.
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) or an equivalent qualification.
  • Current clinical practice as a general practitioner in Western Australia.
  • Experience as a clinical teacher and/or supervisor working with medical students and/or junior doctors, along with experience in medical education, teaching, and assessment.
